LIL' MORT RELEASE PARTY |
10.1.09 Thursday, October 1st, 2009, 7 - 10 pm Munky King Gallery
Renowned artist COOP teams up with Munky King to drop his coveted first vinyl toy, LIL'MORT! Join us as COOP brings Death to Life with a touch of lowbrow defiance. Based on the original painting shown recently at his solo at the Corey Helford Gallery. The piece takes its name from the French phrase, “Le Petit Mort”, a metaphor for the spiritual release one experiences from orgasm. COOP is considered one of the pioneers of the Pop Surrealist movement, and now his vision is available as a limited edition vinyl.
Coop came out to Los Angeles from Bixby, Oklahoma in the late 1980s and quickly became regarded as one of the preeminent underground artists of his time. Known for his prolific poster work, custom font stylings for House Industries, as well as his iconic imagery of devil girls, smoking devil, and cars, Coop has solidified his place in pop-culture history.
Get a chance to meet the legend himself with original art, prints and other new goodies on hand! Available at very limited quantities will be the Munky King exclusive clear colorway and the black colorway.
Music Provided by DJ R-Rated & Colby.
